The Story of Maskeliya
Set among the mist covered hills of Ceylon, Maskeliya has been shaped by generations of tea growing and the people who know this land so well. Its cool climate and fertile slopes give each harvest a rich, full bodied character. With care for both tradition and the environment, the estate continues to produce Ceylon Tea with warmth, depth and a true sense of place.

Brewing Instructions
Unopened buds, hand-picked before they break and dried rather than oxidised. The rarest thing we make, and the least forgiving.
Measure
1 heaped tsp (3 g)
Water
200 ml
Heat
75–80 °C
Steep
4–5 min
- Second steep
- Three steeps; the second is often the best
- Leaf form
- Loose leaf
- Water
- Filtered, well off the boil
One thing worth knowing — Boil the kettle, then let it stand five minutes before you pour. Boiling water scalds the bud and turns a delicate tea bitter — this is the single mistake worth avoiding.
